“I think art for purely aesthetic value valid. I find inspiration in the urban and wilderness and have spent much time in both. There is beauty everywhere. My favorite things are ugly, broken, and worn. In my art, as with life, I seek balance. I invite the viewer to provide the emotional labor to apply their meaning to my work as it may not be the same as mine.”

About

Heather Stamatelatos (b.1975, she/they) is a self-taught artist who lives in Northwestern Oregon. After a lifetime of L.A. area living, 2020 allowed the family to relocate to a little farm in a rural forest valley near the Oregon coast. A dream come true and a fine time to leave city life behind but stay close enough for day trips.

Pourticulture? Yes. Heather has always been influenced heavily by nature. Like nature, her work is always changing. Her current focus is encaustic painting, but various fluid mediums have been a consistent method for many years. That is where Pourticulture comes in. Poured art in all forms. Someday, Pourticulture will evolve into an artist co-op with gallery and instructional spaces. A place to grow and collaborate. Somewhere artists can feel encouraged while creating and sharing. Eventually, it will serve the community youth as a safe, inclusive, and sponsored art learning and experience space.
